Artificial Intelligence Sessions

Join us for interactive AI sessions led by our staff, designed to help you understand and engage with AI tools for research, creativity, coding, and productivity. Sessions include live demonstrations of AI tools, hands-on exploration, discussions on AI ethics, and real-world applications.

The RUN-IT AI sessions introduce students to practical, institution-supported artificial intelligence platforms, emphasizing responsible use, productivity enhancement, and creative problem-solving. The curriculum familiarizes students with the major AI tools available through Rutgers, how they function, and when to use each effectively.

Core Learning Components

  1. Generative AI and Chat-Based Tools
Students learn how generative AI models work and practice prompting strategies to produce written content, images, summaries, and custom outputs. They are also introduced to ChatGPT EDU and its protected environment, including its advantages for academic use such as higher messaging limits, custom GPT creation, and privacy controls.

  2. AI-Enabled Creativity and Media Production
Adobe Firefly is presented as the AI engine behind Adobe Creative Cloud applications including Photoshop, Express, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, and Lightroom. Students learn how Firefly can be used for image generation, design acceleration, and multimedia creation.

  3. Productivity and Professional AI Tools
The program reviews Microsoft Copilot for Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams. Students learn how Copilot automates tasks, drafts documents, and interprets data. GitHub Copilot is introduced as a coding assistant that explains code, fixes bugs, and suggests code blocks.

  4. AI for Research and Academic Workflows
NotebookLM is covered as a research-grounded AI tool that works exclusively from user-provided materials to create study guides, summaries, and even podcast-style explanations. Students learn its limitations, including Rutgers account restrictions.

  5. Ethical Use and Institutional Policy
Students are directed to Rutgers’ official AI policy resources. The curriculum stresses safe, compliant use of AI tools and explains how to obtain university support for academic projects involving.

To support your learning and responsible use of these technologies, we encourage you to explore available AI guidance and resources on the AI at Rutgers website.
